Somalia: Twin car bombs in Mogadishu kill over a dozen

MOGADISHU, Somalia-Twin suicide bombings at a seaside airport in volatile Mogadishu have left at least 13 people dead according to officials on Tuesday, Garowe Online reports.
A suicide bomber firstly tried to ram his explosive-laden truck into African Union Headquarters, followed by a car bomb in front of Mine Action offices inside the heavily fortified airport.
Most victims from the twin car bombs were said to be United Nations security guards killed at a checkpoint that straddles an entrance to Adan Ade International Airport whose surrounding is a home to close to a dozen European diplomatic missions.
Banadir regional police commander Bishar Abdi have confirmed that 13 people were killed in the terrorist attacks.
A spokesman for the Banadir Governor Abdifatah Omar Halen told reporters that UN offices near the airport were the target.
Somali militant group, Al Shabaab as has been the case claimed responsibility for the bombings that they said killed African Union peacekeepers.
AMISOM Commander said, they had accounted for all troops with the African Union Mission in the country.
