MOGADISHU, Somalia August 18, 2014 (Garowe Online)-Massive disarmament operation that targeted the house of notorious warlord Ahmed Da’I has spawned controversy in Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.

Hawiye clan elders and Federal MPs who hail from Mogadishu spoke out against Somali government disarmament and declared that the operation was quick and unexpected.

Speaking at a press conference in Mogadishu, MP Abdulkadir Osoble Ali and former presidential candidate expressed his displeasure with the latest attack on a building that houses Ex-Wadajir District commissioner and warlord Dai.

Another lawmaker Abdi Mohamed Abtidoon told that such hasty operation could hamper efforts of driving Al Shabaab militants out of the remaining stronghold.

“AMISOM forces that arrived in the country for peacekeeping mission began to carry out massacre with the help of battle tanks and I denounce it,” noted Abtidoon in defence of armed clan militias in Mogadishu.

Federal Government of Somalia’s Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed has named a committee for the incident that led to some fatalities in Wadajir district on Friday.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mahad Ahmed Awad revealed that Ahmed Dai is patriot who fought against Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab fighters.

The controversial chairman of Hawiye clan elders Mohamed Hassan Haad called for statewide disarmament.
