Suicide Bombing at Security Checkpoint in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia - A suicide bombing occurred today at a security checkpoint in the Ali Kamiin intersection of the Warta-Nabadda district in the Banaadir region of Mogadishu. The attacker, who was reportedly strapped with explosives, detonated himself near the Mogadishu Stadium’s sport Village, coinciding with a football match between Galmudug and Banaadir.

Reliable sources indicate that security forces fired upon the bomber, causing injuries before the explosion. There are reports of multiple casualties resulting from the blast.

In a brief statement, the government confirmed that no one else was harmed in the incident, with only the bomber losing his life.

The situation in Mogadishu has stabilized since the attack, and the semifinal match between Galmudug and Banaadir continued as planned.
