Türkiye denies reports Israel targeted its forces in Syria

ANKARA, Türkiye — Türkiye’s National Defence Ministry on Thursday rejected as “unfounded” reports that Israel targeted Turkish Armed Forces assets in Syria, insisting the claims “do not reflect the truth.”

In a strongly worded statement, the ministry redirected attention to Israel’s recent airstrike in Qatar, calling it further proof that Israel has adopted terrorism as “a state policy, feeding on conflict and opposing peace.”

Ankara described the attack in Doha as a “blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty” and declared its full support for the Gulf nation. “We stand fully with Qatar against this assault,” the ministry said.

The ministry also warned the international community of escalating instability in the region, saying Israel’s “reckless attacks” risk dragging the Middle East into a wider conflict.

The Israeli airstrike in Doha targeted a Hamas delegation engaged in negotiations. The strike killed five Hamas members and one Qatari security officer. Hamas later confirmed that its top leadership survived the attack.

The airstrike has drawn widespread condemnation from regional powers and international observers, who described it as a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.
