Former Ethiopian Somali Regional State Police chief arrested

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia - Former Ethiopian Somali regional state police commissioner FFarhanTahir, has been arrested and appeared in court today.

He was arrested on suspicion of committing crimes and having links in damages caused in the regional state, which include deaths and injuries of people by arming a youth team organized in the name “Hego.”

In a related development, the federal high court 19th criminal bench denied bail for the former Chief Administrator of the Ethiopian Somali regional state, Abdi Mohammed Omer.

The bench gave police additional 14 days to conduct further investigation.

The hearing was adjourned to September 14, 2018.
