NAIROBI, Kenya - Seychelles and Türkiye will explore further collaboration in the field of tourism and aviation in order to maximize the travel opportunities offered to visitors to our islands.

This was discussed during the meeting between the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mr. Subutay Yuksel, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Monday 27th March 2023.

Also discussed were the contributions made by Türkiye in the health, defense, education, and maritime security sectors throughout the years. “I pledge my cooperation and commitment to ensure that our collaborations are successful throughout your tenure” expressed the Minister. He further added that there are still avenues to be explored in terms of technical assistance for the seizure and detection of counterfeit goods and renewable energy.

Minister Radegonde also advocated for the implementation of a Multidimensional Vulnerability Index to assist Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to access concessionary loans. He sought the support of Türkiye for its implementation.

On his part, Ambassador-designate Yuksel assured the Minister that he is committed to continuing to build on the work begun by his predecessors for the development of Seychelles. “I wish to conclude pending projects so that I can leave behind a legacy at the end of my tenure” he added.

Minister Radegonde reiterated the country’s sympathy and solidarity with the Government and people of Türkiye who were affected by the recent earthquakes. Ambassador-designate Sabutay expressed his gratitude to the campaign started in Seychelles to help the people of Türkiye.

Seychelles established diplomatic relations with Türkiye in 1995. H.E. Mr. Sabutay Yuksel will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. He will present his Credentials to President Ramkalawan earlier this week at a ceremony at State House.
