Somalia: Puntland cabinet ministers sworn in

GAROWE, Somalia, June 17, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Four cabinet ministers have been sworn in with Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali present on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

Cleric sworn four Ministers-Abdi Hirsi Ali Qarjab of Security, Finance Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ahmed, Livestock and Animal Husbandry Minister Abdijamal Osman Mohamed, and Minister of Agriculture Abdullahi Ali Hirsi- into their respective ministries.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at his office, Puntland President congratulated new cabinet members on the job, telling them to work tirelessly for the public.

Qarjab, former Nugal Governor and now with portfolio as Security Minister is replacing Hassan Osman Alorre.

On Tuesday evening, Ali sacked 8 ministers of his first choices in first cabinet shuffle, and appointed new comers.

Among those sacked were Education Minister Ali Haji Warsame and Health Minister Dr. Sadik Enow.

Warsame welcomed the reshuffle that saw him removed while on podium at an event held in London.

On Monday, in a speech to the parliament, Puntland President pledged to deliver on his promises amid anti-militant offensives, overdue pays and lapse in security.

Earlier in May, Ali hinted at administrative overhaul for incompetence, and fired Governors and Mayors.
