MOGADISHU, Somalia-Military court has executed notorious former Al Shabaab media officer Hassan Hanafi whom neighboring Kenya extradited to Somalia in the fall of 2014 on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

Mogadishu court repealed an appeal to his death sentence on March 26 after Somalia issued the sentence on March 3.

The 30-year-old Al Shabaab man pictured in thornbush background was convicted of his role in the killing of five Somali media workers in a country ranked one of the worst places to be a journalist.

Tied to a pole driven deeper into a concrete pedestal on the square of Mogadishu police academy, Hanafi has attracted huge media attention on Monday morning.

He was quoted as saying that he is not concerned following death verdict, teasing: “You will see if killings will stop even after my death,” according to Daily Mail.

On Saturday, military court carried pit the same execution by firing squad on female journalist Hindiyo Haji—who was working for state station, Radio Mogadishu-- killers, Abdirizak Mohamed Barow and Hassan Nur Farah.

Haji succumbed to her injuries shortly after a bomb planted beneath her seat went off on Dec. 3, 2015.
