Iran Says No Reason to Fear Pakistan-Turkey-Saudi Security Pact

DUBAI, Aug. 10 — Iran has no reason to be concerned that a new security pact between Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia is aimed against Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Monday.
Baghaei said the agreement reflected a changing approach to regional security, with countries increasingly relying on their own capabilities rather than outside powers.
“Any plan based on the geopolitical and historical realities of the region, and which is comprehensive and inclusive and correctly identifies the enemy and the threat, can help strengthen security and prevent instability,” Baghaei said.
He added that such arrangements could help counter what he described as threats and abuses by Israel and its allies.
The comments came after Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia announced a new security pact aimed at strengthening cooperation among the three countries.
