Somali President Backs Qatar’s Sovereignty in Meeting with Emir After Israeli Strike

DOHA, Sept 15  – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday at the Amiri Diwan in Doha, in a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expressing solidarity amid growing regional tensions.

During the talks, President Mohamud conveyed the support of the Somali people and government for Qatar, stressing that Somalia firmly rejects any attempts to undermine Qatar’s sovereignty, dignity, or security.

"The Somali government and its people stand in full solidarity with our Qatari brothers," President Mohamud said, according to a statement from his office. "We will not accept any violation of the sovereignty or stability of the State of Qatar."

For his part, Emir Tamim expressed appreciation for Somalia’s stance and highlighted the importance of the long-standing and deep-rooted relationship between the two countries.

The meeting comes as Gulf and Horn of Africa states navigate complex security and diplomatic challenges, prompting calls for closer regional cooperation and mutual support.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation in areas such as security, development, and economic investment. No further details were disclosed following the meeting.
