ADDIS ABABA – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Friday in Addis Ababa for a one-day working visit, with both leaders discussing ways to deepen bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

Prime Minister Abiy described the talks on his official Facebook page as “productive discussions, continuing the bilateral engagements we have been working on over the past year.”

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing shared priorities, strengthening strategic cooperation, and promoting stability and development in the Horn of Africa.

The meeting followed a recent engagement in Mogadishu between Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Somalia, Suleiman Dedefo. Officials focused on expanding trade, investment, and economic development, while coordinating joint efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

Both sides also highlighted the need for a coordinated approach to regional challenges, including terrorism, cross-border crime, and political instability, reinforcing the commitment of the two nations to a sustained partnership.
