ADADO, Somalia- At least two Somali soldiers were reported have died, and about 10 others wounded in a fatal car accident in Galgaduud region, central region in the country on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

Somali military officials in the region said the tragic accident happened after a battle wagon ferrying soldiers veered off of the roadway, and overturned in an area located between Adado and Abudwak towns.

The officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said the soldiers were traveling from Adado, the interim capital of Galmudug state and en route to Abdudwak town at the time of the accident.

The cause of the accident has not been yet established as Somali Federal government troops have reached the scene of the car crash immediately and launched investigation into the incident.

The critically wounded soldiers who are serving with the country’s 21st battalion of Somalia National Army (SNA) were taken to Adado, where they left Saturday morning to receive medical treatment.

Medics said that Saturday’s accident was the deadliest to be reported from the region in recent years. Galmudug authorities are yet to comment on the deadly car accident.

Road accidents are common in the war-ravaged country due to poor road construction, badly maintained vehicles, routine disregard of traffic laws, and lack of proper driving skills.
