QORILEY, Somalia, September 23, 2015(Garowe Online)-Twelve people have been killed in fierce fighting between two fraternal clans in Sool region of northern Somalia overnight on Tuesday, Garowe Online reports.

The deadly clashes came after militiamen raided Qoriley area, Puntland government official told GO.

Burtinle mayor said that nine fighters from the two-Omar Mohamud and Dhulbahante clans-were wounded in a gun-battle triggered by clan revenge attack.

Calm has returned to the areas where the fighting took place.

Fears of another battle are looming as opposing clan militias in Qoriley are receiving reinforcements.

Puntland government has not commented on the renewed hostility which has been lingering for ten years.

Previous efforts to broker lasting peace deal between the two clans ended in failure.
