​Somalia: Ethiopia appoints new ambassador to Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia- Ethiopia has appointed Jamaludin Mustafa Omar as the new ambassador to Somalia, weeks after the election of the new Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, Garowe Online reports.

Omar who served as the deputy ambassador to Somalia, replaces outgoing ambassador Abdiaziz Ahmed Aden who hails from the Somali region of Ethiopia, according to Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).

Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome has appointed Omar for the diplomatic post and he is expected to present his credentials to the Somali President in the coming weeks.

The Ethiopian embassy is among other foreign embassies operating in Somalia, located in the heavily fortified Presidential Palace "Villa Somalia" in the capital Mogadishu.

The Ethiopian embassy is one of 83 Ethiopian diplomatic and consular representations around the World.
