GALKAYO, Somalia Sept 28, 2014 (Garowe Online)-Galmudug President Abdi Hassan Awale Qaybdiid for the first time declared that he rescinded his calls for attack on Galkayo airport during a press conference in Galkayo’s Barahley neighborhood on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

Qaybdiid accused Puntland of turning a deaf ear to Galmudug demands and praised Federal Government Prime Minister for intervening in the deadlock.

“Today which marks September 28, Galmudug administration revokes its decision to impose blockade on airspace. The reasons behind our new decision came after Puntland showed extreme reckless and the grim result of hostilities being stoked by [Puntland],” noted Qaybdiid, urging international community members to dispatch fact-finding mission to Galkayo.

Meanwhile, Galmudug leader lambasted Puntland for beefing up armed forces presence in the northern part of the town.

A bitter-standoff that lasted for two days was broken on Saturday as four passenger planes landed at Abdullahi Yusuf airport.
