MOGADISHU, Somalia - HirShabelle State President Mohamed Abdi Waare has relieved the provincial Governor Yusuf Dabageed from his position on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

In a decree, Waare appointed a former candidate who competed against him in the last presidential election in 2017, Ali Mohamed Araale as new Governor.

The presidential decree didn’t elaborate on what motivated Dabageed’s sack.

Sources said the immediate former governor lost his post for accusing Waare of incompetence and failing the regional state towards good governance, peace, stability, and economic growth.

The newly appointed governor thanked the president for giving him a chance to administrate the State and expressed readiness to cooperate with the region’s officials whenever needed.
