KISMAYO, Somalia, August 23, 2015(Garowe Online)-Jubaland administration in southern Somalia has banned UK-based Somali channel, Universal TV from operating in Lower Jubba, Middle Jubba and Gedo regions for hostility stir, Garowe Online reports.

On Sunday, Jubaland Information Minister issued a decree imposing the ban, blaming Universal Television for turning tribes against each other and spreading propaganda.

Moreover, it indicated that the UK-based Somali channel became accustomed to anything detrimental to Jubaland stability.

The Information ministry also threatened correspondents in breach of the order with legal action.

Universal TV management couldn’t be reached for comments; however Puntland government in northern Somalia previously imposed temporary bans on the channel on the grounds of favoritism.
