MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation has officially launched the "Bulsho" project, a major initiative aimed at strengthening public service delivery in hard-to-reach areas across Somalia.

Funded by the World Bank, the project focuses on infrastructure development and essential services for marginalized communities, with a total budget exceeding $35 million in a collaborative effort between the federal government and member states.

The initiative has moved through several key phases since planning began in May 2023, receiving formal approval later that year. Following an intergovernmental agreement in May 2024, the formal financing deal was signed in April 2025. Implementation is already underway, with an initial $5 million disbursed to trigger immediate local projects.

The Ministry clarified that the "Bulsho" project will not be implemented in the newly established regional state based in Las Anod. Officials explained that the consultation and planning phases were finalized before the formal emergence of this administration. However, the Ministry noted it is actively working to ensure the region is integrated into future developmental frameworks.

This launch represents a significant milestone in the government's strategy to decentralize governance and bridge the service gap between urban and rural populations. By prioritizing stabilization and basic needs, the "Bulsho" project aims to bring tangible state support directly to citizens in Somalia's most remote regions.
