Somalia: Militants claim killing scores in night raid

MOGADISHU, Somalia-Somalia’s Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group has claimed, militants have killed scores of government soldiers in night raid on army base in Lower Shabelle region, Garowe Online reports. 

Al Shabaab military operations spokesman, Abdiasis Abu Musab, said, all government soldiers

—73--in the base were killed 

Officials confirm that government forced repulsed the attack, and are in control of Laanta Buuromilitary base.  

Late on Sunday night, militants stormed into the base in a show of defiance following a series of defeats on the frontline in central and southern Somalia. 

Al Shabaab, which always exaggerates casualties on allied forces, boasted that seven of nine vehicles seized in the terror raid are armored cars.  

The Somali militant group has reverted to unprecedented ambushes on Somali government forces and African Union peacekeepers.
