MOGADISHU, Somalia, April 6, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Mogadishu military court has handed down death sentences to two killers of popular Somali singer late Sado Ali Warsame on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

Shu’ayb Ibrahim Mahdi, 27 and Farah Ali Abdi, 30-were convicted of killing five officials including Warsame in separate incidents in volatile Mogadishu.

According to prosecutors, among the officials killed by the two Al Shabaab members are three lawmakers-Mohamud Mohamud Hayd, Adan Mohamed Ali (Mader) and female MP Warsame whom the convicted men killed in drive-by shooting during the fasting month of Ramadan.

The chairman of military court Hassan Ali Shuute said the defendants confessed to killing five officials of whom two-Ahmed Odawa Balle and Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed (Qaanuun) were intelligence officials.

The court gave the two men a month to lodge appeal against the verdict.

In 2014 alone, suspected Al Shabaab gunmen targeted more than five lawmakers in planned assassinations, largely in Mogadishu.
