Somalia: Senior Al Shabaab official captured in Gedo

GARBAHAAREY, Somalia Feb 1, 2015 (Garowe Online)—Somali National Army (SNA) commander in Gedo region of southwestern Somalia has announced the capture of senior Al Shabaab official, Garowe Online reports.
 
Speaking on Mogadishu-based radio station, Jama Muse said that the terror official is in the hands of government forces.

He didn't disclose his name to media but Musse added that the man had since been responsible for the preparation of explosions.
 
The capture of the new Al Shabaab official comes less than a week after intelligence official with the group Zakariye Ismael gave himself in and renounced violence.
 

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called for more defections last week.
