MOGADISHU, Somalia- The Somali Religious Council (SRC) has issued a statement on Tuesday warning against supporting the new religious group that was declared in Egypt last week, Garowe Online reports.

During a meeting in Mogadishu, Somali clerics have denounced the religious group named proclaimers of the Truth "Al-Saaidun Bil-Haq", and described it as "an Anti-Islamic group."

According to the statement, the SRC has warned against the threats of the new group and called on the Muslim world and particularly Somalis to stay alert for accepting its ideology.

They called the emergence of proclaimers of the Truth “a great danger” and added it aims to divide Muslims and deviate them from the religion.

This comes after scores of people living in regions of Somalia's Puntland and Somaliland administrations have pledged allegiance to the new group.

During this week, Somali clerics delivered sermons at mosques across the country since the emergence of the group, which they said it will bring a fresh destruction to the Muslim world and the Muslims around the globe.

The Somali clerics in Somalia believe the new religious group adopts Takfir ideology who are accused of having extreme views on interpretations of Islam.
