Rashidya Police reached the site and rushed the injured to the hospital.

Earlier, two people were killed and five others seriously injured when a four-wheel drive veered off the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road and ploughed into a group of people offering Maghreb prayers.

The accident took place just before the flyover bordering Dubai and Sharjah.

The Dubai Police said the accident occurred when the Asian driver lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst, veered off the road towards Sharjah and crashed into the group of people offering prayers near the road.
Two people died on the spot and the injured were rushed by the police air wing to the Rashid Hospital. The driver has been held for interrogation.

In another accident on Saturday, a 16-year-old girl died and five others were injured when the car they were traveling in overturned on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This was the first fatal accident to take place on the stretch since the implementation of the reduced speed limit on October 15.

A 42-year-old Jordanian was driving the Land Cruiser. There were four more persons - all Jordanian nationals - accompanying him in the car, which was running opposite Silicon Oasis and going towards Sharjah. The driver took a sudden swerve and lost control over his vehicle while smashing a concrete barrier. The car overturned, leaving the passengers injured.

The girl sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital. She was pronounced dead on arrival. The traffic policemen and prosecutors said that primary investigation indicated that the accident was caused as the driver took a sudden turn which led the car to flip over.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident on Um Squirm Road.
The accident occurred when a car driver hit the biker who reduced the speed near a traffic signal.

In another incident, an Asian worker sustained critical injuries when he was hit by a bus while crossing a road in Qusais near a labor accommodation beside Mohamed bin Zayed Road.

On Thursday, a car driver also sustained moderate injuries in a traffic accident in Al Quoz.

Meanwhile, a heavy truck driver had a narrow escape while driving his vehicle on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road on Friday afternoon. His truck veered off towards the opposite direction of the road and caught fire after it overturned. The driver managed to come out of the truck and save his own life as his vehicle burst into flames.

The police have called on drivers to avoid speeding, follow the traffic rules and not pose a threat to other road users.
