MOGADISHU, Somalia - The dispute over the management of Somali elections seems to be far from over, following the latest alleged removal of Hawa Adan, who is believed to be a critic of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, the outgoing president of the country.

Somalia has less than two months to conduct elections in line with the May agreement, which was signed by key stakeholders following talks that were convened by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

But opposition leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, the leader of the Wadajir party, claimed that one Hawa Adan was kicked out of the committee for allegedly being a critic of Farmajo, who is hell-bent to continue staying in power.

Abdishakur further claimed at least 20 supporters of outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo are in the electoral Commission, along with dozens of National Intelligence Security Agency [NISA] agents, working under the supervision of Fahad Yasin, a close associate of the president.

The opposition had handed over a list of 67 names who are accused of working for the state in the committee. Most of those listed were civil servants, Farmajo's sycophants, or NISA agents according to your opposition candidates.

But a ministerial-level committee picked by Roble only expunged 34 people of the names submitted, a move that was highly condemned by the opposition. According to the presidential candidates, there is enough evidence linking the 67 to the state.

Despite the latest claims by the opposition, the Office of the Prime Minister and other state operatives are yet to issue a comment. So far, Roble has assembled a team of advisors who will be domiciled in his office for the sake of helping him deliver polls.

Somalia is increasing under pressure to conduct elections with the international community warning that failure to hold elections will lead to suspension of aid to the country. Farmajo's term expired in February but he's yet to hold elections following a domestic dispute.
