Somalia PM Appoints Second Deputy PM as Part of Major Cabinet Reshuffle

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somalia's Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has appointed Abdisalan Abdi Ali as the country's Second Deputy Prime Minister, reviving a position left vacant since the interim government era.

In a comprehensive cabinet reshuffle, Barre also named Dr. Elmi Nur, previously the Finance Minister, to replace Abdisalan as the head of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing. The reshuffle extends to several other key portfolios with the aim of bolstering governance and development efforts within the nation.

The newly appointed ministers in Barre's administration include:

Yusuf Mohamed Adan to lead the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs,
Mohamud Ahmed Adan to oversee Maritime Transport and Ports,
Ilyas Sheikh Omar Abubakar - Minister of State for Justice and the Constitution,
Ismail Shire Jamafor the State for Petroleum and Minerals,
Mohamed Osman Omar for State for Family and Human Rights,
Eynaanshe Yusuf Hussein for the State for Labor and Social Affairs,
Mohamed Yusuf Hassan for State for Fisheries and Blue Economy,
Mohamed Nur Abubakar for State for Trade and Industry.

This cabinet overhaul reflects Prime Minister Barre's strategy to address critical sectors and enhance administrative efficiency as Somalia continues its path towards stability and development.
