​Somalia’s President Farmajo offers reward for Info on terrorist bomb plots

MOGADISHU, Somalia- Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the location of a potential car bomb plot after yesterday’s market bombing," Garowe Online reports.

"We offer $100,000 reward for anyone with information about suspected Al Shabaab car bomb aimed to carry out terrorist attack in Mogadishu," said Farmajo in a press conference at Medina hospital on Sunday night.

Somali President Farmajo has urged the public in Mogadishu and elsewhere in the country at large to report any suspicious activities to security agencies for immediate action.

Farmajo who is in office since last week, said he will pay all the hospital bills charged on patients injured in Sunday's marketplace bombing, and airlift the critically wounded for special treatment abroad.

On the other hand, NISA chief has similarly announced reward of $10,000 for information on those orchestrated the car bomb attack at the crowded market in Gawo-gudey area in Mogadishu, that left over 30 people dead.

However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the deadly car bomb attack at the marketplace.

The President said the country's armed forces, with the support of African Union troops (AMISOM) are papered for fresh offensive to eradicate Al Shabaab militants within two years period.

Al Shabaab is considered to be the most lethal insurgent group in East Africa, as they carried out attacks in neighboring countries that contributed troops to the AMISOM mission in the Somalia.

Al Qaida-affiliated Al Shabaab group is aiming to topple the western-backed Somali Federal government and been carrying out sporadic attacks against security forces and allied AU troops in the central and southern regions of Somalia.
