(GO) - New York City leads the pack in 2023 as the world's top city for millionaires, according to the World's Wealthiest Cities Report by Hanley Global. The data showcases the cities with the highest number of millionaires, centi-millionaires, and billionaires, along with the fastest-growing cities for the super-wealthy.

Seven of the top 10 cities are in countries that actively encourage foreign direct investment through formal investment migration programs. These cities offer residence or citizenship rights in return for investment.

Tokyo, the Bay Area, London, Singapore, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Sydney round out the top 10. Among them, Tokyo has a relatively evenly distributed wealth with a lower number of billionaires compared to the other cities in the list.

Fast-growing cities for the super-wealthy over the past decade include Monaco, Warsaw, Dublin, Scottsdale, Austin, West Palm Beach, Greenwich, Darien, Dubai, Marrakech, Kigali, Shenzhen, Bengaluru, Hangzhou, and Ho Chi Minh City. These cities have experienced strong growth in various sectors such as technology, finance, and real estate, attracting wealthy individuals from around the world.

For example, Austin has been dubbed "Silicon Hills" due to its fast-growing tech sector, with major companies such as Tesla and Oracle relocating their headquarters to the city. Meanwhile, Dubai has become a magnet for migrating millionaires thanks to its safe haven status and low tax rates, with approximately 3,500 high-net-worth individuals moving there in 2022 alone.

The report is an invaluable resource for high-net-worth investors, advisors, industry professionals, and policy makers interested in wealth migration trends and turning their cities into wealth magnets of the future.
