In what of the viral videos, the forces were seen celebrating after seizing control of the Ildab, described as the largest command center for ISIS terrorists near Turmasaale in the Almiskaad mountains, dealing a significant blow to the group and cutting off their access to essential supplies in the hills of the Bari region.

Within the last two days, at least 13 ISIS militants were killed as Puntland forces continued to push deeper into the group's main hideouts in Al-Miskaad mountains, the main base of the group which has in the past recruited several foreigners.

On Friday, the security forces shot and killed a foreign man suspected of planting a landmine in a garden near Alnakhiil in Bosaso, the capital of the Bari region. The man, whose information was shared with residents, detonated the explosive upon realizing security forces were approaching, according to officials.

He was killed at the scene. No other casualties were reported. The incidents come as Puntland forces battle ISIS in the Al-Miskaad mountains for weeks, officials added, while acknowledging the gains in central and eastern regions in Puntland.

This achievement marks a major milestone in Puntland’s relentless efforts to eliminate extremist threats and secure lasting peace for its people. Both the government and the public have celebrated this victory, reaffirming their commitment to fighting terrorism and ensuring regional stability.

Said Abdullahi Deni, the Puntland president, unveiled the operation, saying that the objective is to stabilize Puntland, one of the most secure states in Somalia. Many states in southern regions are facing the Al-Shabaab menace.
