Somalia: Deni appoints new governor, police chief for Mudug region

GAROWE, Puntland – The president of Somalia’s northeastern Puntland state, Said Abdullahi Deni has appointed a new governor and police commissioner for Mudug region, Garowe Online reports.

In a directive released from the office of the President on Saturday, May 25, Ahmed Muse Nur has been appointed as the new governor of the region.

Hassan Abdullahi Warsame [Wardheere] and Mohamed Hassan Hussein [Waloore] were named as first deputy and second deputy of the new governor respectively, according to the presidential decree.

In a second a memo signed by the President on the same day, on 25th May announced that Colonel Jama Mohamed Ahmed was assigned as new police commissioner for the region.

The new Mudug governor, his two deputies, and as well as the police boss will take their respective offices and start services for the public with immediate effect.

The appointment follows just days after President Deni paid his first visit since his election last January to the region, where he held meetings with local authorities, elders and members of the civil society on the current situation.
