Somalia: Gara'ad, Galkayo, and Galdogob Road Project Project Launched

GAROWE, Puntland - The Deputy CEO of Puntland Highway Authority (PHA) Mr, Abdirizak Mohamed Hayir, along with Puntland Minister of Public Works, Transport, and Housing Ahmed Bashir Iro, today inaugurated a road link between Gara'ad Port and Galkayo and Galdogob towns.

This study will form the basis of plans for the construction of this triangular road which is important for the Gara'ad port construction project.

This work will be attended by up to 10 Foreign Engineers, will last for 30 days from the day of its launch, and will be implemented by the KAAD Research Institute.

"We are pleased to launch today this important project for Puntland, Somalia, and the Horn of Africa in general," said Mr. Hayir.

"We have left this long and arduous journey and the work that has been left to us to encourage the construction of this project and the plan that will be the starting point," said the Acting and Deputy CEO of the Puntland Highway Authority (PHA)

He added that the Puntland Highway Authority will play a key role in the development of the study and is ready to assist the surveyors with any technical and equipment they need.

"We look forward to contributing to your knowledge, equipment, and any technical skills you will need during this project," Hayir said in a speech at the launch of the project.

The PHA has previously played a key role in the construction of the Wadaagsin road, which has been in operation for more than six years, with all the equipment and staff of the Puntland State Roads Authority, and is currently carrying out other important work in Galdogob district in Mudug region.
