GALKAYO, Somalia, October 4, 2015 (Garowe Online)-A group of clan elders from Jubaland arrived in Puntland for mediation as government opts for ‘all talk and no action’ on containing deadly violence in northeastern Sool region, Garowe Online reports.

Puntland President, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali jetted off to Nairobi, defying calls for calm in the conflict-stricken areas in vastly Sool and Mudug regions.

Well-known clan elder, Sultan Abdullahi Ali Sokor was leading the Jubaland delegation whose members landed at Abdullahi Yusuf International airport on Sunday.

At least twenty people from the two warring clans died in night raids and armed confrontations over the last two weeks.

Puntland traditional leaders previously tried to mediate in the dispute, however the efforts ceased for lack of financial and technical support.

Puntland Vice President, Abdihakin Abdullahi Haji Omar visited Nugal region town of Burtinle, meeting with local elders on solutions to the ten-year-old clan grudges.

Jubaland President, Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) mediated between Puntland President and striking security commanders in July.
