Somalia: Police official injured in attack in Bossaso

BOSASSO, Puntland- The second deputy commander of Police forces in northeastern region of Puntland, Jama Sahardiid, has sustained gunshots wounds after being attacked by unknown armed men in Bossaso port city on Thursday, Garowe Online reports 

Reports said that Sahardiid was targeted at a restaurant in Bossaso city in Bari region. He sustained serious injuries from the gunshots, added the source. 

The assailants were reported to have fled the scene before the arrival of the security forces. 

Subsequently, the Police authority launched investigations to identify the reasons behind the attack.

However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack against the Police official in Bossaso city.

Residents told GO that the situation has returned to normal but the security forces are patrolling the areas.

The incident comes following the defeat of ISIS faction in Qandala port town, as the joint Puntland forces pushed back the militants from Qandala, located 75 km east of Bossaso.
