GAROWE, Somalia, April 6, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Puntland Intelligence Director Abdi Hassan Hussein (Abdi Yare) has handed over oath to the newly appointed successor Abdirizak Isse Hussein (Khaatumi), putting a month-long deadlock to an end on Monday afternoon, Garowe Online reports.

Puntland Government officials including Security Minister Hassan Osman Allore, Army Commander-in-Chief Gen. Saed Mohamed Hirsi (Saed Dhere), parliamentarians and traditional leaders attended a well-organized event held in the state capital of Garowe.

Speaking at the event, Abdi Yare congratulated Khaatumi on the new post, and pledged to closely work with him.

On his side, new Puntland Intelligence Agency (PIA) Director expressed his delight with the transfer of responsibilities by the outgoing Intelligence Boss, Abdi Yare.

Among the speakers were also traditional leaders who stressed the need for inclusive commitment to the stability of the northeastern state.

Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali and two top security commanders-Abdi Yare and Deputy Police Force commander- had been at loggerheads over sacking decree for the past weeks.
