Somalia: Puntland ready to confront religious bandits-President

GAROWE, Somalia Oct 5,2014 (Garowe Online)-SThe President of Somalia's Puntland Government Abdiweli Mohamed Ali unveiled that his government is ready to confront Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militant as Somalis joined Muslims worldwide in marking Eid Al Adha festivity on Saturday, Garowe Online reports. 

Addressing hundreds of worshippers at Mire Aware stadium in the state capital of Garowe, President Ali initially congratulated Puntland Defence Force (PDF) on the occasion of the feast of sacrifice, and paid tribute to Wednesday's victory against fighters from Al Shabaab in Galgala area near Golis Mountain Range. 

"I am very grateful to armed forces, Puntland people and Somalis at large are very much indebted to [Puntland] forces who secured victory against religious bandits [Al Shabaab]," said Ali, adding that business community is required to stand by the fighting forces in their struggle for tranquillity and lasting peace in the restive Galgala. 
He also declared that Puntland Government will carry forward more military offensives to cleanse Al Shabaab remnants of hideouts along Golis. 
Last Wednesday, Puntland troops seized key Al Shabaab base after pre-emptive deadly assault.
