Somalia: SW praises Puntland education system

GAROWE, Somalia-Southwest State Education Minister Sadad Mohamed Nur Aliyow has praised Puntland for the progress it commands in education system, Garowe Online reports. 

In an interview with Puntland-based independent station, Radio Garowe, Aliyow who is on a three-day working visit to the northeastern State said, his chief aim has been to draw lessons from Puntland in education policy.  

“We are in Puntland for experience sharing. It can help us immensely due to its maturity for 19 years,” noted Aliyow.  Southwest State official added that Puntland Education Ministry expressed its readiness for sharing experience with his ministry in training schemes for teachers and curriculum preparations.  

Jubaland delegation has previously made a similar experience-sharing visit and received trainings from Puntlad Finance Ministry.  

Puntland achieved harmonization of secondary syllabus between public and private schools in 2009.
