Egypt condemns deadly bombing at popular market in Somalia

CAIRO – 7 February 2024: Egypt has condemned the deadly terrorist bombing carried out at a popular market in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

In a statement on Wednesday, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Egyptian people’s and government’s condolences for Somalia in light of this “shameful” incident.

Egypt also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

At least 10 people were killed and many others were injured on Tuesday as several blasts occurred at a popular open-air market in Mogadishu, Reuters cited residents as saying.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the blasts.
