Grenades kill soldiers in southern Somalia

JOWHAR, Somalia-At least four soldiers have been killed in grenade attack in Middle Shabelleregion of southern Somalia on Sunday according to security officials, Garowe Online reports. 

Somali National Army (SNA) commanders told the media that three other military officers sustained injuries. 

The wounded are being treated at a medical facility in Middle Shabelleregional capital of Jowhar.  

The explosion in which soldiers were targeted occurred after unknown assailants hurdled several grenades into camp at the back of airstrip, 15km off Jowhar.  

Nobody has claimed credit for the attack though Al Shabaab is known for infamous terror attacks, largely in central and southern Somalia.  

Somali government forces aided by African Union peacekeepers liberated a string of strategic towns from Al Shabaab over the last few years.
