Hormuud Telecom Honored with Social Contribution Award at World Communications Awards 2024

LONDON, United Kingdom - Hormuud Telecom, Somalia's leading telecommunications company, has been awarded the Social Contribution Award at the prestigious World Communications Awards 2024, hosted by Total Telecom in London on Wednesday.

The accolade was accepted by Abdullahi Nur Osman, Chairman of the Hormuud Salaam Foundation and CEO of the foundation. "It was an honor to accept the Social Contribution Award on behalf of Hormuud Telecom and Salaam Bank at the World Communication Awards hosted by Total Telecom in London last night," Osman stated.

Hormuud Telecom emphasized its dedication to community upliftment, stating, "Connecting our communities and giving them tools to thrive is our foundation. We’re honoured to have been recognized for this by Total Telecom at the World Communications Awards last night, winning the Social Contribution category. Everything we do stems from Somali needs. This award adds another feather to Hormuud Telecom's cap, following previous international recognitions. In 2023, the company's CEO, Ahmed Mohamud Yusuf, was named "CEO of the Year" at the same awards, bringing global attention to Somalia's telecommunications industry.

Additionally, Hormuud Telecom secured the "Connecting the Unconnected" accolade at the 2024 Glotel Awards, highlighting its efforts to extend connectivity across Somalia's rural and underserved regions.

The international prizes collectively underscore Hormuud Telecom's significant role in advancing telecommunications and fostering social development in the Horn of Africa country - Somalia.
