Somalia: 7 militants killed in op, NISA commander killer apprehended

JOWHAR, Somalia-Somali National Army (SNA) commander in central Galgadud region Col. Ahmed Taredisho has confirmed that troops killed seven Al Shabaab militants in anti-terror operation on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports. 

The military also wounded eight others and seized weapons and ammunition during the raid on militants hideout in Masagaw area. 

“We raided and dismantled Al Shabaab hotbed in Masagaway area. We killed seven [militants]and wounded eight in the operation,” Taredisho told the media.  

He added that terror Chief identified as “Adkar” who was responsible for the killing of innocent civilians in Galgadud survived the raid barely.  

The operation is said to be part of plans to liberate eastern Galgadud bastions remaining under the control of Al Shabaab.  

--NISA Middle Shabelle commander killer apprehended  

Security forces captured fleeing killer of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Middle Shabelle commander late Abdiweli Ibrahim.  

The killer, former Al Shabaab fighter, was escorted to the Islamic ritual prayer, Janaza of Ibrahim’s body.  Deputy Middle Shabelle Governor Ahmed Meyre Karaam said in an interview with Mogadishu-based radio station that the assailant will face the justice very soon.

 NISA is known for recruiting Al Shabaab defectors into intelligence activities.
