Somalia: AU soldiers open fire on bus, five civilians killed

BELEDWEYNE, Somalia, August 9, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Ethiopian soldiers serving with African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) have opened fire on a bus on Beledweyne-Halgan road in central Somalia on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

Five people aboard reportedly died in the drive-by shooting, the third incident involving civilian casualties in less than a month.

Sources say, African Union peacekeepers initially stopped the car and searched.

The bus was carrying Halgan residents who returned from condolatory trip to Hiran regional capital of Beledweyne.

Somali government forces and AU mission have not commented on the matter.

On August 2, peacekeepers allegedly shot and killed five members from one family in Merca coastal town.
