​Somalia: car bomb blast near prison in the capital Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia- at least 5 people were killed and other injured in a suicide car bombing targeted prison in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.

Reliable sources tell GO that an explosive-laden vehicle was detonated near Godka Jili'ow prison run by Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in Mogadishu.

Somali government officials haven't release statement regarding the bombing that targeted the prison facility or the casualties behind the attack.

No group claimed responsibility of the attack, but Al Qaida linked Al Shabab militants group have carried out similar attacks against government buildings, officials and security forces in a bid to topple the western backed Somali government.

Somalia, a long-troubled Horn of Africa country, has remained in the grip of violence  and insurgency since the outbreak of civil war in 1991.
