​Somalia cabinet meeting focuses on security

MOGADISHU, Somalia- Somali cabinet members have held their weekly cabinet meet in Mogadishu on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.

Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Gen. Abdullahi Ahmed Jama (IlkaJiir) has presided over the session that focused on security situation.

The cabinet has also passed Security and Defence Council for Somali Coasts bill as part of accelerated government policies in piracy-ridden waters in East Africa.

Defence and Security Ministries briefed the cabinet on latest security developments in central and southern Somalia.

Several issues among them, clean-up operations in El Baraf and Aadley as well as security sweeps in Mogadishu and Kismayo were discussed.

Operations in Mogadishu and the southern port city of Kismayo led to the foiling of terror plots according to government.
