MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Former powerful spy chief Fahad Yasin skipped Monday's change of guard in Somalia, with his most preferred politician Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed better known as Farmajo handing over power peacefully to his predecessor Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Mohamud defeated Farmajo in last week's delayed presidential election, in a contest which after all did not surprise many. A number of opposition politicians had ganged up against Farmajo, who had overstayed in office.

One of the most-watched individuals in the election was Fahad Yasin, owing to the fact that he had been serving as a presidential advisor, just moments after he has relinquished his role from the National Intelligence Security Agency [NISA] by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

And during the elections, he contested the HOP086 seat but the outcome was nullified by the elections committee, with the opposition accusing him of rigging. The former spy chief was instrumental in Farmajo's administration, which was condemned by many elites.

Sources told Garowe Online that Fahad Yasin and ex-MP Abdirahman Dhere Mogadishu for Turkey ahead of the anticipated The Villa Somalia handover from Farmajo to the incumbent President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
