Somalia: Fatal car accident kills two in the capital

MOGADISHU, Somalia- Two people are reported have lost their lives in a fatal car accident in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Monday morning, Garowe Online reports.

Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred along 21st October highway when a lorry truck traveling from Mogadishu seaport collided with a minibus carrying civilians.

Two occupants of the minibus died on the spot, while a third passenger who suffered wounds was rushed to a nearby hospital to receive medical treatment, according to witnesses.

Capt Mohamed Hussein, a police officer at the scene said the car mishap came after the driver of the minibus attempted to pass a truck along the road linking between KM4 and the city's main port.

The traffic police in Mogadishu said that Monday’s car accident along 21st October highway in Waberi district was the deadliest to be reported from the capital in recent months since the beginning of the year.
