MOGADISHU, Somalia, July 25, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Al Shabaab assailants in car shot and killed Federal Member of Parliament in volatile Mogadishu’s Wadajir district on Saturday afternoon, Garowe Online reports.

The militant group claimed responsibility for the shooting, threatening other MPs with more assassinations.

“The killing has been carried out by our fighters in Mogadishu, we will continue targeting all Somali MPs because they spread un-Islamic laws,” a spokesman for Al Shabaab said.

MP Abdullahi Hussein Mohamud was targeted in drive-by shooting according to witnesses.

The attackers sped-off in a car right away and security officials couldn’t be reached for comments on the murder of late Mohamud.

The targeted MP replaced his father, Hussein Bantu who died of natural complications months ago.

Al Shabaab is known for coordinating terror attacks in central and southern Somalia.
