Somalia: Four civilians killed in Inter-clan revenge attack in Hiiraan

BELEDWEYNE, Somalia- Gunmen were reported have killed four civilians in rural village located on the outskirts of Beledweyne town, the regional capital of Hiiraan region on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

Two mothers and their daughters were killed over inter-clan revenge feud by armed groups who stormed their village in Baar area, which lies about 40 kilometers west of Beledweyne.According to residents, gunmen fled the area after murdering the innocent civilians.

The exact motive behind the attack on the villagers was not immediately clear, however, the local residents said it involved long-standing animosity between rival clans in the region.

There was no immediate response to the incident from the administration of Hiiraan region.

The clan militiamen have staged frequent attacks on each other in and around Beledweyne district, located 350 km away of Somalia's capital Mogadishu.

in separate incident, at least three people have sustained injures in a road accident in El-Ma'an area in Middle Shabelle region on Saturday afternoon, according to an eyewitness who spoke to GO. The mishap came after two trucks collided on the main highway linking Mogadishu to the region.
