Somalia: Grenade explosion wounds Barawe DC

BARAWE, Somalia-Barawe District Commissioner Hussein Barre Jeh has been wounded in a grenade hurdled by an assailant being right away held by security forces on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

His deputy Bashir Mohamed Yusuf has told the media that Jeh sustained minor injuries after the attacker threw the grenade into municipality compound.

“A grenade has been hurdled at the DC while in his office. It was thrown from higher rise building nearby. The attacker is being held and he is in custody,” said Yusuf according to Jowhar news site.

Somali government forces and African Union peacekeepers have conducted search operations in connection with the grenade explosion.
