Somalia: Gunmen on motorbikes kill schoolgirls in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia Nov 2, 2014 (Garowe Online)-As Somali government forces along with African Union Peacekeepers are pressing ahead with intense military campaign, suspected Al Shabaab gunmen on motorbikes killed two schoolgirls in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley district on Sunday morning, Garowe Online reports. 

Eye witnesses say, the school girls were shot dead at –Macmacanka junction-by two assailants who escaped from the spot of the crime shortly after the shooting. 

Security officials told reporters that they were investigating the planned assassination. 

Though, as has been the case Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militants intensified guerrilla warfare, largely in central and southern Somalia, no body claimed credit for the shooting. 

Suicide bombings, military-style ambushes and targeted killings by Islamist insurgents have so far claimed at killed government officials, civilians and foreigners in volatile Mogadishu.
