MOGADISHU, Somalia, August 20, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Federal Government of Somalia’s Military Court has executed a soldier for murder of a colleague at a police academy in Mogadishu on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.

Military court assistant, Hassan Abdirahman Adan told journalists on the spot of the execution that, Mohamed Ali Adan, 30 was convicted of killing another soldier in Barawe coastal town.

“On August 18, the first degree court of the military sat for the punishment case against defendant Mohamed Ali Adan, aged 30 and soldier within the 3rd brigade of Somali National Army. On May 20, he killed late Abdifatah Mohamed Ahmed in Barawe district,” said Adan.

Somali military court previously executed soldiers charged with murder and mainly convicted Al Shabaab members.

Rights watchdog raised alarm over what it described ‘summary executions’ that doesn’t comply with international standards of justice last year.
