Somalia: Scores killed in clan fighting near Buuhoodle

BUUHOODLE, Somalia, December 19, 2015 (Garowe Online)-At least 30 people have been reported killed in fierce clan fighting near northern Ayn regional capital of Buuhoodle, Garowe Online reports.

The fighting raged between two clan militias, leaving many others wounded on Saturday morning, residents said by phone.

Conflicting reports are emerging of the exact location of clan clashes.

Deadly confrontations occurred in Gaashaamo and Baliyo Hassan areas on Somalia’s northwestern border with Ethiopia.

Warring clan militias have been at loggerheads over ownership of land tracts.

Puntland Vice President Abdihakin Abdullahi Haji Omar is visiting Buuhoodle to condole with families.

Both Puntland and Somali Regional State of Ethiopia have not commented on the deadliest clan clashes to be reported in the border villages in recent years.
